Prospective Entrepreneur Visa

Prospective Entrepreneur Visa

The Prospective Entrepreneur visa category may be recommended for you if you are looking to visit the UK to secure funding to set up a UK business. Entrepreneurs with business plans who are already being considered for funding by a UK recognized financial body, entrepreneurial seed funding competition or Government department may also consider prospective entrepreneurs. In some cases, an ongoing discussion with a UK recognized financial institution or venture capitalists may also serve as a catalyst to necessitate an application under this route.
.

In order to apply your visa under this category, you must;

Be genuinely seeking entry as a prospective entrepreneur for a period not exceeding six months.
Provide a supporting original letter from the UK recognized financial institution or UK government department supporting the application form.
Demonstrate that they intend to leave the UK at the visa expiration unless they switch to a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur).
Maintain and accommodate themselves throughout the period of stay.
Be actively involved in securing funding during the period of their stay in the UK.

Things the Prospective entrepreneur must not do;

Intend to be employed in the UK.
Intend to produce goods or provide services within the UK
Intend to undertake a course of study
Be a child under the age of 18
Intend to marry or form a civil partnership, or give notice of Marriage or civil partnership
Intend to receive private medical treatment
Be in transit to a country outside the common travel area

The length of stay normally granted under this visa is 6 months.

It is important that Venture capitalists must be regulated by the FCA and applications under this category should be made from outside the UK. Successful applicants have no recourse to public funds and are not able to apply with dependents. Applicants may not have to meet the English language requirement under this route, however they have to successfully pass the English language test in order to apply for a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa at the end of the current route. Switching from the Prospective Entrepreneur visa category to a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) can be done within the UK.

It is also important to note that individuals will not be allowed to switch to the Prospective Entrepreneur visa category from inside the UK from another visa category.
